I By:   I 2 years ago I   2 Comments I   Europe, Norway, Sweden I   , , , , , Day 10 - Gripsholm - Stockholm Today was another leisure day and we have to reach Stockholm by afternoon as we were having the return Viking line cruise at 4 PM back to Helsinki.We woke up easy around 09 AM and went to visit Gripsholm castle. This beautiful castle is situated at shores of lake Malaren.A fortress was built at the location around 1380 by Bo Jonsson Grip, and belonged to his family until the confiscation of mansions and castles by King Gustav I in 1526. The King tore it down, and built a fortified castle with circular corner towers and a wall, for defensive purposes. Of the original medieval fortress, only the facade of a wall remains. READ MORE
