Zakopane – Jewel of Lesser Poland – Chapter 5

I By:   I 2 years ago I   1 Comment I   Europe, Poland I   , , , , , , , , , , , I got a big map from the reception last night for things to do on Saturday and Sunday.Out of which i neglected the options which included lot of trekking,so my weekend adventure was all about taking cable cars and reaching the mountain tops with least effort and enjoy the view. But shit does not happen as we always visualize it to be,being it a summer season Zakopane attracts lots of visitors. One of the main attraction is to take the Kasprowy Wierch Cable Car.To reach here you have to take a bus from Zakopane to Kuznice, there are many private bus which ply between these two places and there is no fix timing when the bus is going to leave.Whenever the bus is full it leaves immediately :) I went to Kuznice and i found a huge queue for going up,so i have been told and so i have read at many places.I gave up the thought of having an easy and lazy day and decid... Auschwitz concentration camp – Poland – Chapter 4

I By:   I 2 years ago I   0 COMMENTS I   Europe, Poland I   , , , , , , , , , A week passed and i was back in Krakow for much needed weekend break.I had taken second half off for visiting Auschwitz concentrating camp.Auschwitz concentration camp was a network of German Nazi concentration camps and extermination camps built and operated by the Third Reich in Polish areas annexed by Nazi Germany during World War 2.This was around 65 kms from where i was staying.Finished up my work on Friday and left for this place. This place was little bit crowded as many people come from every corner of the world to witness the history of Nazi barbarism. I took the guided tour, which we can only book half an hour before the tour starts. You cannot bring any big bags and other stuff inside the Camp.So keep it in your car, bike or bus when you arrive at the entrance of the camp. Our tour started after waiting for an hour or so.I would recommend everyone ta... A day in Krakow – Poland – Chapter 3

I By:   I 2 years ago I   0 COMMENTS I   Europe, Poland I   , , , , , , , , , , After a slippery and rainy Saturday.I was looking forward to a better Sunday.First half was dedicated to have some beers and rest, while second half was dedicated for city tour.I was staying at 4 friends hostel, which was in quite peaceful locality. But for all the daily needs there was grocery store right in the front of hostel and to escape to the centrum, bus stop was 400 mtrs away.Since it was Sunday i couldn't get the repair works done for my motorcycle, but i make an appointment for coming Friday when i will be back from Helsinki after working my ass off for the whole week. In the afternoon i geared up for a centrum tour,20 mins of public transport and i was where i wanted to be.Do i have to repeat that it was a beautiful sunny day and a weekend and everybody was out celebrating summer induced happiness.I found Krakow much more beautiful as compared to Wa... Ruins of Ogrodzieniec Castle – Poland – Chapter 2

I By:   I 2 years ago I   0 COMMENTS I   Europe, Poland I   , , , , , Woke up to a dark and rainy day. That cheapest Chinese rain suite i bought from the Clash Ohlson store in Helsinki was about to come handy in today's situation.Had a low side crash while i was exiting Warsaw, such a shame that i slipped on a zebra crossing.Slided for few millimeters on my butt, rubbing against the asphalt. No damage to the precious butt, but left indicator got screwed and the left mirror was loose.Screw threads of the mirror mount was broken.I decided to get it fixed in Krakow. While i had a terrific start of the day, rain was going crazy and that is when the Chinese rain suite decided to give up on me.I could sense some rain drops sneaking inside from the joints. Going directly to Krakow from Warsaw sounded quite mainstream, since i am quite fantasized by these medieval castles..I decided to take a detour and check out this Ogrodzieniec Castl... READ MORE

A day in Warsaw – Poland – Chapter 1

I By:   I 2 years ago I   0 COMMENTS I   Europe, Poland I   , , , , , , , , From all the Polish people i have met on the way,the only two recommendation i got was to visit the coastal area around Gdansk and Tatra mountains around Zakopane.Poland being a comparatively big country,it looked quite challenging to scale the places i want to go over a weekend. It was difficult to make a choice between two,but i went ahead with Tatra Mountains Spotted this beautiful wooden church as soon as i ventured in Poland. I reached Warsaw and checked in a hostel named "Lotus Guest House".There was plenty of sunshine outside and city center was few thousand meters ... READ MORE
