Northernmost Point of Europe – Nordkapp – Chapter 2

I By:   I 2 years ago I   0 COMMENTS I   Europe, Norway I   , , , , , , , Due to the excitement and quite less time in Hand,I slept only for couple of hours and i was back on the road early morning. It was bright and sunny like it was afternoon, but cold..dead cold :). With plenty of black coffee i was surviving through the cold for which i was not prepared at all.I would give credit to the coffee and the mesmerizing landscapes which were motivating me to keep moving further. Some landscapes on the way to Olderfjord. Northernmost Point of Europe – Nordkapp – Chapter 1

I By:   I 2 years ago I   3 Comments I   Europe, Finland, Norway I   , , , , , , , , , , , , , , Second round to Finland and i was eagerly waiting to get my hands on a new bike. After spending much time in office looking for motorcycles in Nettimoto rather than working,i finally managed to select two bikes which came under my budget. On one auspicious weekday i gathered courage to go to Sippo at Aarbike and picked up Honda CB500 2001 model for 2500 Euro. The only thing which was remaining was the valid insurance document.Had to wait another week to get the insurance document from IF. Nordkapp was 1500 Km one side and doing it on weekend was a impossible task.So i planned to carry my bike till Oulu in VR train. It costed me a bomb but i desperately wanted this road trip to happen. So i booked the Car package from Helsinki to Oulu for 230 Euro.We reached Oulu on Saturday morning and then it all began..another exciting road trip of lifetime. Here is the rou... 10 Days – Norwaying around Kawasaki ER5 – Day 10

I By:   I 2 years ago I   2 Comments I   Europe, Norway, Sweden I   , , , , , Day 10 - Gripsholm - Stockholm Today was another leisure day and we have to reach Stockholm by afternoon as we were having the return Viking line cruise at 4 PM back to Helsinki. We woke up easy around 09 AM and went to visit Gripsholm castle. This beautiful castle is situated at shores of lake Malaren.A fortress was built at the location around 1380 by Bo Jonsson Grip, and belonged to his family until the confiscation of mansions and castles by King Gustav I in 1526. The King tore it down, and built a fortified castle with circular corner towers and a wall, for defensive purposes. Of the original medieval fortress, only the facade of a wall remains. READ MORE

I By:   I 2 years ago I   0 COMMENTS I   Europe, Norway, Sweden I   , , , , , , , Day 9 - Halden - Orbero - Gripsholm Today's day was entirely dedicated to castles and fortresses.Starting with the Halden Fortress. This is also known as Fredriksten fortress. But before that i had to go through the breakfast made by Hu.She calls it Oats and claims to be healthy but i like to call it one of her 'Torture Method'.She definitely had a great career in being a Professional Torture Expert :) Fredriksten Fortress in not so far from the Swedish border, and is home to dramatic Norwegian military history. From the location of the fort i could imagine ... 10 Days – Norwaying around Kawasaki ER5 – Day 8

I By:   I 2 years ago I   0 COMMENTS I   Europe, Norway I   , , , , , , Day 8 - Lillehammer - Oslo - Halden Half day was dedicated to Oslo today,But we still had lot of time left for the day.I did not wanted to head back straight to Stockholm.Fortress at Halden looked little bit impressive,so i included it in the plan for the evening. So 306 kms only for the day and we had plenty of time to waste in Oslo :) We reached Oslo in a matter of few hours after leaving from Lillehammer.Road leading us to Oslo took us directly to the Royal Palace of Oslo,we found a safe parking area near by and dumped our riding gears on the bike.We started walking around randomly and the first spot we visited was the Royal Palace.Just like the other Royal Palaces left, there was some parade going ON.In the park area around the Royal palace, also spotted some lady cops scouting the area on their Horses. This beautiful building in the right turned out to be the largest Baroque/Roccoco Church in Norway. READ MORE

I By:   I 3 years ago I   0 COMMENTS I   Europe, Norway I   , , , , , , Day 1 - Stockholm - Orebro - Karlstad - Drammen We started our journey from Helsinki on 11th September evening in Gabriella (Viking Line).Pretty excited i was...as the next 10 days of my life..i was about to live my dream . We reached Stockholm port on Friday morning and taking out the bike from the port was piece of cake .City roads and diversions are most confusing roads, you miss one turn and you are gone for another 10-20 kms before you can U turn and return back on your original course.Since i did not had any GPS device with me,I had to l recite all the highway numbers and city turns. But once we are on motorway, its a straight road to your destination.... How things fell into place ? While the plan was brewing to move Finland for couple of months,I made a promise to myself that we have to do a road trip to Norway. But then it was not India, that we can pick up our motorcycle and leave in any direction we want.Things has to be planned properly,First few things i had to make sure for this road trip was.. 1) Indian Licence validity - For Norway driving licences issued outside the EU/EEA are valid for driving in Norway for up to 3 months after entering Norway. This also applies if you take up ‘normal residence’ in Norway.  2) Leaves - This was the major hurdle ... READ MORE
