Pompeii – City Frozen in Time – Italy

I By:   I 10 months ago I   1 Comment I   Europe, Italy I   , , , , , , , , Last few weeks has been amazing and i have been strolling through some beautiful but touristy Italian cities.Rome was the most spectacular in all of them. While i was in Naples,I was more interested in visiting Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius. After arriving in Naples,i got caught up with the work. For couple of days i mostly stayed indoor with beer and my laptop to accomplish some unfinished business.Hostels are interesting place to stay, where lots of travelers keep on coming and going out.Better part of meeting them is that, everyone has a different story to tell, different experiences to share but most them of who had visited India had one thing in common "Delhi Belly"  :).Met three Indian girls working in Germany and we got along very well.We made a one day plan to visit Pompeii ... Rome – History,Ruins and Beyond

I By:   I 1 year ago I   1 Comment I   Europe, Italy I   , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , From Colosseum to  Vatican city,Basilica to Roman forum,From history to mind blowing architecture.Rome offers a lot to see and spend. After having some fun time in Pisa i took a fast train to Rome, they call this train as 'Frecciarossa'.I settled down in a hostel which was equally close to the train station and Colosseum.Hostel where i was staying was quite cosy, dark, cheap and it was being run by a fellow Indian. While i was here in the one of the most historic city in the world,i tried to visit as many as places. Here are some of them which i would recommend to the people, who are planning their trip to Rome. Colosseum - On first day i almost skipped this place due to long queues for the ticket. Then i realized that tickets are also available at Roman Forum and Palantine hi... READ MORE

Florence – Capital of Tuscany Italy

I By:   I 1 year ago I   0 COMMENTS I   Europe, Italy After Bologna i moved to Florence, which was a one day affair,I literally raced through all the places which should not be missed on your visit to this marvelous city. There are lot of things to see from cathedrals to museum,i would recommend everyone to spend atleast 2-3 days here and soak in the historic and artistic beauty at slow pace. On top of must visit list is Florence Cathedral,i was awestruck by the expanse and pleasingness of it.Construction of this beauty started in 1296 and completed in 1436.One can only imagine the level of thought process and artistic view involved in constructing this enchanting cathedral. Bologna – Capital of the Emilia-Romagna

I By:   I 1 year ago I   1 Comment I   Europe, Italy I   , , , , , , Venice was getting bit boring due to the foggy weather all day long,I was smoking and doing rounds of wine to keep myself alive and kicking.Took a escape route with Trenitalia and moved to Bologna, journey was fast (2 hours only) and comfortable. Stay in bologna was short but worthwhile, stayed in a hostel called "|| Castello" which was very close to the center.Met two american ladies and a Indian bloke in the hostel, they finished up all my vodka which i stocked up for my entire journey.Anyway i got free smokes and awesome company in return so i shouldn't crib much :) Next day i went around town doing things which every tourist does. Here are few places which i visited. Torre Asinelli - There used to be hundreds of such towers in Bologna and only two of them remains in their fully glory. These two are most prominent ones, known as the Two ... READ MORE

Queen of the Adriatic – Venice – Italy – Photologue

I By:   I 2 years ago I   0 COMMENTS I   Europe, Italy I   , , , , , , , , For moving to Venice from Milan, best option was Trenitalia.Fast, easy, comfortable and convenient. For booking tickets in Trenitalia, Check my post on How to book tickets in Trenitalia. I reached Venice around midnight, last stop of the train was at the Santa Lucia station. As i started walking towards my hostel,i could see lots of people still dancing on the tunes of weekend and shaking on beats of alcohol.Instead of joining them for fun,i dragged my smelly ass directly to the hostel for some shower and sleep maybe.I was staying at the Backpackers House Venice, which was bit hard to locate due to no presence of any kind of sign board.Even after reaching there, it took a while to get the door opened, meanwhile there was kebab shop right in front.I got myself a ... Metropolis of Northern Lombardy – Milan – Italy Photologue

I By:   I 2 years ago I   0 COMMENTS I   Europe, Italy I   , , , , , , , , As i landed in Italy,Milan was first destination on my list.Searched extensively for a cheap deal from Helsinki to anywhere in Italy but failed miserably. Then came Ryanair to rescue, unfortunately they doesn't fly from Helsinki airport.Nearest airport where Ryanair operates was Tallin, which was just 2:30 hour away by ferry.I decided to take this leap on account of saving some Euros.Again the destination airport in Italy was Bergamo Airport, which was 60 kms away from Milan. But there are lot of volvo buses right outside the airport which takes you to Milan center for a mere charge of 5 Euros. There is no need of booking such buses in advance, there are plenty of options available.Bus operators like Terravision,Orio and Autostradale have services in this route. I was not expecting too much from the biggest industrial city of Italy, which is more popular for fash... READ MORE

Half Day in Swiss Capital – Bern

I By:   I 2 years ago I   0 COMMENTS I   Europe, Switzerland I   , , , , , , , , , We called up Honda Service Center first thing in the morning and we were informed that our bike will be ready by afternoon.Heartbroken and Financially screwed due to this issue,we decided that we should head straight back to Stockholm without any excursions. Our average daily expenditure was around 50-60 Euros or max 100 euro on some days. But yesterday we spent around 1000 Euros in a day which was unexpected.Anyway,my theory about such issues is "Fondest memories in your life are made of such fuckups which remains unforgettable and forever vivid". Advantage of paying 200 Euros for the night was, that we were staying not so far from the historic city center. We also got some free tram passes as part of our overnight stay deal. Around our hotel. Konigsee – Unmatched beauty of Bavaria Region

I By:   I 2 years ago I   0 COMMENTS I   Europe, Germany I   , , , , , , , , With quick excursions in Salzburg we were all ready to laze around for the rest of the day around Konigsee. We left from Salzburg and before reaching Berchtesgaden we took a detour to Eagle's Nest.We reached Obersalzberg, from here we had to take a bus to the top and then a historic golden brass lift to the top of the peak.Entry ticket for adults was 16.10 Euros which includes the price of return bus ride from the top. Apart from the exhilarating views, there is cafe on the top which used to be Hitler's home and southern headquarters. This was built by Martin Bormann's and given to Adolf Hitler for his 50th birthday as a tea house for diplomats.During the World war 2,this was the place where plans for war and mass murder were formed. Vienna – One Day Affair

I By:   I 2 years ago I   0 COMMENTS I   Austria, Europe I   , , , , , , , Even though i had to get my bike checked up by a mechanic,i was more tempted to ride rather than stay put and get my bike fixed.Ride to Vienna from Budapest was just 2 hours 30 mins away as per the google, and it was damn right because a flawless motorway connects these two capitals. While the issue kept me bothering all the way till Vienna,I was excited to venture in another new country which known to be expensive.Toll for motorways has to be paid for motorcycles as well,as soon you enter Austria you can spot the signs of "Vignette" on your right.I bought the 10 days Vignette for 6 Euros as far as i remember. If you don't buy vignette and caught by the authorities, cash fine of upto 240 euros can be levied. You cannot miss these beautiful wind mill farms on your way to Wien. READ MORE
