Sikkim – Jewel of Eastern Himalaya

I By:   I 8 months ago I   1 Comment I   East India I   , , , , , , , Been many years,I have been craving to ride to Sikkim. Many plans failed and got re-planned with no immediate success. While i left my regular paying job for no particular reason,i realized that there wont be any perfect time like this to break the long pending jinx.I started this ride from Pune and rode all the way to Sandakhpu, highest point in West Bengal.Moved on to Darjeeling and then finally to the one of the most happening capital - Gangtok. Tough terrain of Sandakhpu claimed the life of rear suspension and i had to get it changed.Suspension was n... READ MORE

Day 6 – Dibrugarh – Miao – Namdapha – Jairampur

I By:   I 5 years ago I   0 COMMENTS I   East India I   , , , , , , , , It was the day when I was running away from the rains.Have soaked enough of rain water from last couple of days. And start of this run wasn't much good.As when I was about to start in the morning,It rained quite heavily and delayed the start of the day. Got to start my ride by 09 AM,with a clear sky.The tea gardens around the NH37,continues to distract me with their beauty.I stopped at a spot where few of the labours were plucking the Tea leaves, to get a good shot i stopped for a while. And yeah I succeded in getting One  READ MORE

Day 5 – Daporijo – Bogebeel – Dibrugarh

I By:   I 5 years ago I   0 COMMENTS I   East India I   , , , , , , The accommodation i got in the hotel, was quite smelly and shitty according to the price i paid for one night(400 INR).This is something you have to adjust and live with when you are on a journey,alone...on your own.A early start is what i needed,I moved ahead towards Along which is the gateway to Menchuka.Arunachal people also term it as the next Switzerland in the world.I was very much exited to see it and experience it.Alas !!,rain was continuing to spoil the fun and hopes. The rain continued with fog and clouds and i had no option, but to ride ahead..completely drenched. Day 4 – Gohpur – Ziro – Daporijo

I By:   I 5 years ago I   0 COMMENTS I   East India I   , , , , , , , I proceeded towards Itangar/N Lakhimpur in the morning to make make my way towards Ziro.As per my preaprations and google map the turn to Ziro was few kms before N Lakhimpur. Upon covering few kms i bumped into a confusing diversion. The road turning to the left goes to Itanagar in 29 Kms and the road which goes straight takes 77 Kms to reach Itanagar.Condition wise both the roads looked same.Any person with average intelligence would have taken the short cut,So did I  READ MORE

Day 14 – Sohra – Trek to Double Decker bridge – Guwahati

I By:   I 5 years ago I   2 Comments I   East India I   , , , , , This was last day of my travel,as tomorrow afternoon i was flying back to Mumbai.Thought of getting back to the daily/boring life was creeping me out.On the way to the starting point of the trek,The bridge is somewhere down there in the thick/green forest. Today was going to be a very long and tiring day as i was about to do a Solo trek of 03 kms or more to the double decker root bridge. Not much of a trekker, mostly a lazy person.I was venturing into something which was not my cup of tea.I reached the point from where the trek starts, parked my bike and started climbing down. There were cemented stairs all the way till the Root bridge, few hanging bridges to cross the rivers.... Day 13 – Shillong – Sohra(Cherrapunji)

I By:   I 5 years ago I   3 Comments I   East India I   , , , , , , , , , , , Next destination was Cherrapunji which was just 55 Kms from where i was in Shillong.I was expecting Cherrapunji to be a city/town,but it is a region under which there are many small towns/Villages.The main town around which the rest of the region plies is Sohra. After visiting Cherrapuni,I was planning to visit Dawki..which is the India - Bangladesh border. But it all depended on how thing goes at Cherrapunji,as i wanted to do the trek to Double decker root bridge.I followed NH40 towards Dawki for around 20-22 Kms and diverted towards Sohra at a Y junction. The road condition was not bad and i was completely enjoying the weather. In a matter of few minutes i reached the Duwan sing syiem bridge and view point.View was tr... READ MORE

Day 11 – Tinsukia -Dibrugarh – Sivasagar

I By:   I 5 years ago I   0 COMMENTS I   East India I   , , , , , , , , Today was the laziest day of my trip.I traveled or should i say i crawled for 119 Kms in the entire days.Late start to the day, blame it to the last night beer party i had at Tinsukia. Also i had to do some office work today so planned to take out the second half to do that. I started from Tinsukia at around 11 AM in the morning.I called Bedanta Gogoi, the person who did the permit thing for me and requested him if we can meet in Dibrugarh. He replied 'He will be glad to meet up'.I reached Dibrugarh and waited for him for 30-40 mins and he didn't turned upSo i moved ahead to Sibasagar.I checked in a hotel for 500 bucks,Yeah that was bit costly for me.But sibasagar being a prominent tourist ... Day 10 – Roing – Tezu – Namsai – Tinsukia

I By:   I 5 years ago I   1 Comment I   East India I   , , , , , , , , After an awesome adventure ride of Annini,I started my journey towards Tezu.Having absolutely no idea, what route to take and what places to visit..I started inquiring with the locals about the route options available.Everybody came up with 02 set of options.First one is the long one which is 30-40 kms extra and the second one is short cut..Which has river crossings and is quite lonely and dangerous for an outsider like me.I risked to take second route as i am fond of the shortcuts.Which later on turned out as a pretty good adventure.River crossings,Multiple routes,Not even a single soul to advice which route to take, scary jungle, bike almost got stuck in a river crossing..where the water was till my knees. At few moments i was pretty scared,if something happens here no body will even come to know for a month or so. Day 9 – Etaun – Annini – Roing

I By:   I 5 years ago I   2 Comments I   East India I   , , , , , , , , A perfect night it was.Good food, nice and clean room/bed without spending any single penny. With morning tea and vote of thanks to BRO peoples,I started for Annini. In the Roing Annini routes i found lot of gates bang on the road, hanging on the wire..which was usually tied with a tree. The door was sort of automatic in the closing part,I had great difficulty crossing all such gates.Because by the time you open the gate and start your bike to cross the gate..its gets closed. This was more like a video game, time trail or something  :P READ MORE

Day 8 – Dholaghat – Roing – Etaun

I By:   I 5 years ago I   0 COMMENTS I   East India I   , , , , , , , , Started for Dholagat in the morning to catch the ferry and cross the mighty Bramhaputra.Usually the ferry services starts from 06 AM morning, but the frequency of the ferries increases by 08 AM. I had to wait till 07:00 AM,till me and my bike got a lift in one of the ferry.Saw an under construction bridge which is expected to be completed by 2014.Not many bridges ply in the northern side of Bramhaputra in Assam, infact there is none. The only way to cross the river is via Ferry. It costed me 70 INR in all, which was okayish for a ferry ride of 20-30 mins. Not even the small cars, but the trucks can be crossed from one side to another via ferry services. And trust me they charge minimal rate for the services they are providin... I reached Bomdila and tanked up,as fuel price hike news was in the air. From last two days i have been feeding my bike with the petrol costing 64.75 INR.Adulterated but cheap  Was enjoying the repetition of t...
